Our
rhode island red chickens for sale
provide excellent meat and egg production in addition to being quality show birds. They are a popular choice for backyard flocks because of their egg laying abilities and hardiness. The bird's feathers are rust-colored often with white streaks, however darker shades are known, including maroon bordering on black. Their eyes are red-orange and they have yellow feet, with reddish-brown beaks. Chicks are a light red to tan color with two dark brown bars running down their backs. The Roosters usually weigh in at 8.5 pounds, the Hens slightly less at 6.5 pounds, cockerel at 7.5 pounds.
The
Rhode Island Reds
are friendly chickens with a good nature. They are good pets for children. Frequent layers, Rhode Island Reds are noted for their brown eggs. Although they can sometimes be stubborn, they can end up producing up to 200 eggs a year but a healthy one can lay more. Healthy hens can lay up to 6-7 eggs per week depending on their care and treatment. Our
rhode island reds for sale
typically lay many more eggs than an average hen if provided plenty of quality feed.

Rhode Island Reds
Recently I ordered 5 Rhode Island Reds, and I couldn't be happier. My family orders chicks every year, but not from California Hatchery and right away I noticed a big difference. The way that the chicks were shipped was amazing and they all arrived healthy and hopping around. I have had them for two weeks and they are still all thriving. This is my first year getting my own chickens and I am glad that I decided on California Hatchery. They have a customer for life in me!

Very happy customer!!
I ordered my chicks at the beginning of August. At the time of order I explained to the hatchery that I wanted my chicks to be shipped to me either the last week of August or as part of the first hatch in September. They emailed me back saying that they would ship out September 1st. On August 31st I received an email stating that they had shipped. September 2nd the chicks arrived. I ordered 6 Rhode Island Red hens, and they all arrived alive and well. I have them in the brooder box now. They're warm, eating, drinking, and enjoying their start on life. I couldn't be more pleased with California Hatchery. They worked with me on the shipment date, shipped them when they said they would, and they all arrived alive and well. I will definitely do business with them again. Thank you California Hatchery!

review of order of four rhode island reds.
I ordered four Rhode island reds and got curtious service, the shipping was fast and the four baby chicks seemed perfectly fine, but the next day one of them died. I am sure it wasn't the hatchery's fault but it was because with all the movement in shipping some chicks don't survive. My chicks are two weeks old now and they look huge like they are a month old!! I am planning on getting more chickens soon, I will definitely be ordering from california hatchery!!

Healthy, happy, and hungry!
Ordered 5 redbirds, and all came in right on time, the little fluffballs are now healthy growing pullets, already outside and adapting well in just 3 weeks, and there's no stopping them. Can't wait to see what they're like in a few more weeks...

The Reds
We are having a lot of fun with these chickens. They have been moved outside and are adapting well. They are chasing and running all around. We are looking forward to the day when they start laying eggs.

nice chicks!
I'm very happy with my beautiful birds. They are over 3 months old now and healthy as you can get. I never lost a single one and while I chose straight run, I ended up with more hens than roosters so I scored! 😃 I truly enjoyed raising them from newborns. Thank you California Hatchery.

5 healthy chicks!
I ordered 2 Rhode Island Red and 3 "assorted Brown eggs layers". In less then 24 hours from shipment, I got 5 healthy, happy chicks who are already growing. I am dying to know what the "assorted ones" will look like as hens. Being relatively new to chickens I may not even know the breed...

All arrive safely in good condition. They are now growing like weeds with no sign if stopping. They should be ready to release in 4 or 5 more weeks. Very satisfied!

Chickens in the City
I ordered 4 hatchlings and got them on May 3rd in the middle of a heat wave. But baby chicks like to be warm, so not a problem. They are now almost 3 weeks old, growing fast, getting plumage and combs, eating well and seem eager to get out and do some serious bug hunting. I think I have 3 females and a little rooster that seems to be lagging behind the girls a bit in size, but he's just as playful and active as they are. So far, so good. They certainly have vigor and are strong, healthy and fun-loving. I am pleased with my little R.I.Reds.
